In 2007, the city of Los Angeles Bureau of Street Lighting began field testing solar street lighting systems for deployment at city bus stops, where access to the grid was under a different jurisdiction. As a result of the field tests, solar street lighting became a preferred solution for bike and pedestrian walkways along the LA River. Working with Hadco, SolarOne has provided the City with over 200 systems located throughout Los Angeles.
This letter is to confirm that the City of Los Angeles has completed
preliminary and field testing on SolarOne's Solar Powered lighting systems as well as those from other manufacturers. SolarOne's system was one of only two solar lighting systems approved for use by the City."
